Happy Birthday, National Broadband Plan!
We’re taking a step back today from our usual focus on the past seven days to look at the progress made on implementation of the National Broadband Plan (NBP) over the last two years. March 16 marks the 2nd anniversary of the release of the NBP, a multi-year strategy for increasing broadband deployment, adoption and meaningful use throughout the country. Since the release, the Benton Foundation has been tracking the implementation of the plan and its over 200 recommendations.
Q&A: Alex Curtis, The Creators' Freedom Project
Earlier this month, I chatted with Alex Curtis from Public Knowledge's Creators' Freedom Project, a new initiative that is focused on helping artists promote themselves in the digital world. The Creators' Freedom Project is currently developing case studies that will serve as business models for other artists to follow. So far, Nashville-based Indie-Pop quartet Parachute Musical is the Creators' Freedom Project's first case study. I talked to Alex Curtis about how The Creators' Freedom Project got started and what they hope to accomplish.
