"Since 1999, Ms. Carrillo has directed and designed interactive virtual exhibition programming for the Smithsonian Latino Center's Latino Virtual Gallery. Currently, Ms. Carrillo directs the Smithsonian Latino Virtual Museum (LVM) in Second Life, an avatar-based 3D virtual learning environment with access to the vast collections and resources of the Smithsonian Institution as they relate to U.S. Latinos and Latin America. As the LVM director, Ms. Carrillo developed the core conceptual framework for the project and the strategic plan in 2007 with a team of media experts. Since it's opening in March of 2009, the LVM has reached 35,317 virtual visits. "
