Amanda Ault Is Named Associate Director of Southern Exposure

After five years with NAMAC, Amanda Ault is leaving to take the position of Associate Director of Southern Exposure, a San Francisco-based visual arts organization. Her last day will be Friday, November 14, 2008.

While at NAMAC Amanda oversaw membership and program services. She convened 20 Regional Meetings, including 8 specifically focused on visual arts organizations; managed the Capacity Building Support Grants that witnessed dramatic application increases in recent years with fifty applicants in this year's round; and transformed the monthly eBulletin into the informative monthly digest of members' news, opportunities, and the much anticipated and used job listings.

"Seeing Amanda's growth and development as an arts administrator over the last five years has been truly extraordinary," commented NAMAC Co-Director Jack Walsh. "Her appointment as Southern Exposure's Associate Director reflects both her abilities as a solid administrator and her desire to advance in her career path. We wish her continued success as she brings her capable skills, insight, and good nature to this vital Bay Area visual arts organization."

Reflecting on her time at NAMAC, Amanda said, "In my five years at NAMAC I have had the pleasure to get to know and work with an amazing community of people and organizations. Again and again, I have been inspired by the heart of this dynamic field and impressed by the constant ingenuity of the people supporting media-based work. As I embrace new opportunities at Southern Exposure, I look forward to continuing to develop the relationships I started through NAMAC."

"Amanda has worked tirelessly to connect our members to NAMAC and our programs in a personal and sincere way. Her service to the organization has helped us reach new constituencies and build stronger relationships among the membership," said Co-Director Helen De Michiel. "As a representative from Southern Exposure and the visual arts, we look forward to seeing her as an engaged participant in our future regional and national convenings."

During the interim period until the new Membership and Program Services Manager joins the staff, Daniel "Dewey" Schott, NAMAC's Senior Manager of Leadership Services, will oversee membership renewals, Capacity Building Support Grants, and the e-Bulletin. You may reach him at dan@namac.org or (415) 431-1391 x302.

Please join us all in extending our sincere thanks to Amanda for her years of service to NAMAC and the media arts field, and in wishing her success in her new pursuit.
