The New Orleans Film Society is a 19 year old cultural non-profit organization that presents the New Orleans Film Festival, plus several other festivals and many film series, screenings and events year-round. 2008 sees a huge increase in the number of programs NOFF is presenting throughout the year - NOFF has two monthly screenings at different venues, a comprehensive slate of previews and premieres, and exciting plans for the 19th Annual New Orleans Film Festival, October 9-16! IFP and NAMAC, representing filmmakers and filmmaker organizations nationwide, welcomed the Orphan Works legislation introduced in Congress on April 24, 2008. The legislation will allow filmmakers and other creators to use “orphan works” that have been languishing because the copyright owner no longer exists or cannot be found.
