"Working at VOICES is a chance to put yourself on the map and a chance to speak up and get your voice out. There's so much good you can do for the world by telling stories about how it really is, by observing and telling the truth." Hector Moreno, 16, VOICES participant.

VOICES offers young people in Tucson a safe space, positive relationships, and the skills training to document real-life stories. Youth who are creative, resilient, educated, and active citizens are youth who benefit themselves, their families, and our community now and in the future. Through our print and online publications, radio broadcasts, and digital stories we provide the platform for youth to share their work and transform the world around them. At VOICES, we believe stories are an agent of change.

Founded in 1999, VOICES brings together low-income youth to create and publish their perspectives on community issues they identify as critical. We offer a variety of on-site programs: our flagship program now in it's ninth year, the 110º After School Magazine, employs 30 youth annually to publish the magazine 110º-Tucson's Youth Tell Tucson's Stories; VFP (VOICES Freelance Program) trains youth in narrative journalism and pays to publish their work through a variety of media, including digital stories, photo essays, and feature and opinion pieces; RadioActivism broadcasts youth story modules on community radio KXCI 91.3FM; and DAMN (Documentary Arts Movie Nights) a drop-in program gathers youth to share and critique their film and creative documentary projects.
